The Federal Trade Commission is warning Americans to be wary about emails that appear to be sent by the Social Security Administration. A recent scam email mentions the “S.A.F.E Act 2015” and touts new tools for monitoring a credit report to spot unauthorized use of a Social Security number.
The Federal Trade Commission warns that you shouldn’t click on any links in an email of this sort, as scammers might be able to install malware on your computer or trick you into entering private information. If you receive an email that looks like the one below, mark the email as spam, delete it and be sure not to click on any of the links.
