There are so many frustrations in the disability process but none more so than the long wait. The current length of the wait in Oregon – approximately two years — is enormously frustrating to both the folks who are waiting and to those who are advocating on their behalf.
However, there are things clients do that can be very frustrating as well. For that reason, I always give clients “homework” that addresses these five issues. I thought you might like to know them so here are the top five frustrations that disability attorneys face in their efforts on behalf of their clients:
- When a client does not tell you that he/she has returned to work
- When a client does not tell you that he/she has moved/changed their phone number or otherwise become difficult to contact
- When a client does not tell you that he/she has relapsed after a period of being clean and sober
- When a client does not tell you that he/she has not seen a medical provider for an extended period of time
- When a client does not call and ask your advice on any number of actions that may affect their case, despite the fact that there is no charge for your advice (because lawyers in this area of law are limited to a legal fee if they win).
