Cheryl CoonQuestion:  What does it take to be approved for disability based on depression?

My Answer:  Above all, it takes medical evidence.  Even if you know that you are severely depressed, if you have not been seeing a doctor or mental health provider, you will not be likely to win your case.  Seeking professional help is the right thing to do for two reasons – first because you are getting the help you need and second because if in fact your depression makes it impossible for you to hold a fulltime job, your mental health provider will be able to support you with a professional opinion.
